This is my first ever human sculpture. I created her at a workshop at Field Trip Gallery's studio under the guide of Clairy Laurence, renowned ceramacist here in Brisbane, Australia. This ceramic bust took me 5 days to create and I'm very proud of this scultpure. She represents more than just a girl with her chubby cats, to me she was the beginning of a new chapter of my ceramic journey.
Mid 2025, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had a partial nephrectomy. I was lucky I didn't require any further treatment but during my recovery from this, my original instagram account also got shut down. I was not in a strong enough position physically or mentally to deal with this at the time and when I recovered I started over again. This is when I reevaluated how I wanted to live my life, and also how I wanted to proceed with my ceramics journey. Up until this point, I worked on my own in my home studio, doing drops online and creating things I loved but knew would sell. I decided I want to connect with more people within the creative space and grow as an artist. This ceramic bust workshop was the first step to this, which led to my first ever solo exhibit - MULD chubby cats 2026.
This large sculpture has been lovingly hand built with stoneware clay. Hand painted with underglazes, glaze and and twice fired to temperatures up to 1280℃ to create a durable and strong ceramic sculpture.
